My Career in a Nutshell

I initially got my CSEP-CPT (Canadian Society of Exercise Physiology – Certified Personal Trainer) while I was a student in 2014, I convocated from the U of R with my Bachelors in Kinesiology specializing in Human Kinetics in 2015. I originally became a personal trainer to simply pay my way through school, but once I started, I fell in love with being a trainer, with my clientele, and with all the character building that training heavy and hard brings you.

My official personal trainer journey started at Gold’s gym where I got my training wheels and began figuring everything out in the gym and nutrition wise for myself – we all have our beginning, and this was mine in 2013/2014. I did my fieldwork at the same time at Courtside Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation as an exercise therapist learning to prescribe exercises to rehab certain injuries. I also had the privilege to work with Rod Flahr for a time, coaching athletes of all sports, as well as pre-habing many of his athletes for injury prevention. I was also the athletic therapist for the U of R women’s basketball team for 2.5 years working with high level athletes during my time in University.

I started up my own busines in 2015 (originally called B’s Fitness) and worked out of Heavy gym for just short of 5 years. This is where I laid my roots, really developed myself as a trainer, and started building my empire that is the Iron Therapy family that it is today.

In January of 2021 (during a global pandemic) I decided to FINALLY take the plunge into what I had been working towards for an EXCEPTIONALLY long time and open my very own private training studio: hello home of Iron Therapy! I finally built a place all my own where my clients and I can thrive and vibe as high as we want to. It was an absolute dream come true and I am DEEPLY thankful for everyone who helped me get to where I am today.

The gym has continued to grow over the years, and we are celebrating our 5year gym anniversary now (in 2026). So many people have come through these doors that we call home, and no matter your time at Iron Therapy , be it brief or stuck with us for the long haul, you will always be a part of our gym family!

My Training Style & Beliefs

As a trainer I believe in being the best example I can be to my clientele. How can I ask you guys to give your training everything you’ve got if I don’t demonstrate the same values?! Essentially, I believe in talking the talk AND walking the walk. I pride myself on pushing myself to the absolute limits on the gym floor, to be stronger, holding myself to high standards, to always put form and technique first, and to always be open minded to learning new and improved ways of doing things. I will never ask you to do something that #1- I haven’t done (or do) myself, #2 something that I don’t believe in, or #3 something that I deem to be impossible or unsafe. Anything I ever ask one of my clients to do I know is POSSIBLE, ACHIEVEABLE, ATTAINABLE, REALISTIC, you are all so much stronger than you know, and I absolutely love being the person, the trainer to help you see that and achieve that! Your goals are my goals!

With lifting weights comes great physical results and transformations, we all know this, and that is usually our intrinsic reason for starting, for seeking out a trainer: “I want to look good, to be healthy”. However, something that is often overlooked is the mental transformations and improvements that come from training in the gym. These are just as, if not MORE important, in my opinion. This is the aspect of my job that I love the most: I literally get to change lives! To gain strength physically allows us to build confidence in ourselves, to feel that “unstoppable, fuck ya I did that! feeling”, to learn to appreciate what our bodies can do, to be proud of ourselves, to learn to love ourselves just a little bit more. These are the things that are truly priceless, they enhance our lives, and they enhance our soul. Training sessions and nutrition plans are all just an INVESTMENT in yourself. I genuinely believe that training is inclusive and holistic of mind, body and soul. Hence the creation of my brand IRON THERAPY – the IRON is our therapy and the triquetra looped around the “O” in my logo represents just that: mind, body, and soul.

My training style in essence, summed up in 3 words is: lifting fucking weights! So many people shy away from the weights because they either don’t know what do, are confused by weight selection/reps/sets/tempos/rest/what/when/how/order, or the biggest one (especially for women) they are scared they’re going to bulk up and look manly. I promise that as a female lifting weights you will not look manly, how can you?!? you have a female body, you will look feminine, strong, healthy, toned (I hate that word but since so many people use it and know what I mean by it, so I’m gonna throw it on here). I will teach you the basics if you have never set foot in a gym before, I will break down movements for you so that we can do them as efficiently and safely as possible for YOUR body, I will modify and adapt things for you if you have a current injury/past injury that still causes you grief, I will tell you why and show you how, I will answer your questions so that you understand,  I will push you to (and sometimes) past your limits so that you can be better! I will TEACH you. I will GUIDE you. I will SUPPORT you. I will ELEVATE you. I will TRAIN you to change your entire LIFESTYLE for the better. This is a lifestyle change after all. Results take time and there are no quick fixes in the “fit body, healthy lifestyle” world contrary to what the media leads us to believe. I want to work with you to change your LIFE, simple as that.

It is because of all you (my past, present, and future clients) that I am living my dream as a personal trainer in my very own space with the most loyal, loving, hardworking, and wonderful clients I could possibly ask for, all of you have all become my dear friends and I wouldn’t be where I am today without all of them (all of YOU) – so thank you from the bottom of my heart. I appreciate you all. You make me able to be, well, ME! I love working with people and being able to educate and motivate them to push through their barriers to achieve a new level of greatness, functionality, strength, confidence, and power. Seeing someone label something as impossible and then having them go above and beyond their own expectations to execute something later is truly one of the most amazing things to be a part of.  The rewards to lifting are endless and I see amazing changes and transformations in people not only physically, but mentally, and spiritually every single day; like entirely new people are built through the blood, sweat, and tears that the IRON THERAPY gives us. I am so grateful to each and every one of you who put your faith in me to push you to your greatest self.

I love what I do, and I love all of you <3
